The source of evil

This piece was part of a massive oak tree of 1.25m in diameter. Many years ago, 7 iron clamps have been hammered into trunk and branches to climb it. The tree grew over them and enclosed them.
The carved cells can be seen as a tissue in which a foreign object sticks. (iron clamp) Around this the black bark spreads out like a cancer. The blue-black staining comes from a chemical reaction of tannin in the wood and iron.
